New Generation Filmmakers Forum is a film festival based in Chicago, IL that showcases emerging and cutting-edge cinema creatives.

Founded in 2022 by filmmakers Moon Abbott and Alex Tammaru, New Generation Filmmakers Forum proudly hosted its first event in 2023.

Hosted annually, the festival features a curated screening of short films followed by a Q+A with the filmmakers.

New Generation Filmmakers Forum strives to highlight its selected filmmakers in order to help kickstart their careers. We pride ourselves on showcasing underrepresented, unique voices and stories in film.

We happily screen films of all genres. In the past, we have shown horror, documentary, rom-com, dance, experimental, thriller, drama, LGBTQ+ films, music videos, and more.

Filmmakers of all identities are encouraged to submit their films to New Generation Filmmakers Forum.
